Delving into the political...

When I first registered to vote in 1977, I registered as a Democrat. I have voted for very few Republicans during my life, preferring the platform of the Democratic party. Well really, I am very liberal. Much more liberal than most Democrats in power. Last night as I watched the Democratic National Convention (C Span, no talking heads) I was overcome by pride in my party. I would never have believed as I watched Ronnie Reagen sworn in, that only 28 years later a major American political party would nominate an African American for the Presidency of the United States of America.

Regardless of all else going on, to me this re-affirms that the American Dream is alive and well in America.

Go Obama.

School is in session.

Summer just blew by. We are now much poorer as we had to shop for and the send the eldest off to college. Prices keep going up. Wages, not so much. Still, if you can't buy the 12 pack this weekend, your, daughter has a history book. I could rant, but what good would it do?

My role is life is slowly starting to change. Maybe it is time I start to change to meet it. The kids are growing up. Bubba is almost 14, and #2 is a senior in high school. Time for this mom to get her act together and get back into the workforce. We could use the money. I guess this means that I need to try and remember that long ago work history and fashion up some sort of resume. Dose that mean I have to confront my lack of professional accomplishments? I chose to stay at home with the kids and be poorer but there. Now as I begin my 50th year, I get to start over. Joy.

On a totally unrelated subject: Cheers to the Nineteenth Amendment! 88 years ago today Women were given the right to vote. Only 88 years, we've come a long way, baby! Still further to go...
