Year's End

As this year draws to a close, I just wanted to inject a WooHoo, for the end of the Bush era. May our country get back on the right track and may everyone experience a great 2009!

The Vice Presidential Debate will be held tonight. In anticipation, here is TPM's greatest Sarah Palin moments. Remember America, this woman could be a 72 year old heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Agreeing with Jack

As a reasonably intelligent, college educated, mother of three I must agree with Jack Cafferty. Speaking truth to power.

It's a gray day

I guess today would be a great day to get some housework done but it is so gloomy outside I really would rather lay about the sofa and watch the television. However, huge stacks of laundry await. No rest for the weary.

In a way the weather matches my mood which become more gray as more and more Americans seem to prefer John McCain. Why? It is beyond my ability to understand. The Republicans are just so good at getting Americans to vote against their own self interests. Oh well, I am kicking in another contribution to the Obama campaign and will be helping phone bank. it isn't much but I don't want to let go of the America I hope we become and not the one we currently are.

Enough on the politics since I can't figure out how to embed video. I guess that means I should spend some time trying to figure out more of the tubes. More later...

Delving into the political...

When I first registered to vote in 1977, I registered as a Democrat. I have voted for very few Republicans during my life, preferring the platform of the Democratic party. Well really, I am very liberal. Much more liberal than most Democrats in power. Last night as I watched the Democratic National Convention (C Span, no talking heads) I was overcome by pride in my party. I would never have believed as I watched Ronnie Reagen sworn in, that only 28 years later a major American political party would nominate an African American for the Presidency of the United States of America.

Regardless of all else going on, to me this re-affirms that the American Dream is alive and well in America.

Go Obama.

School is in session.

Summer just blew by. We are now much poorer as we had to shop for and the send the eldest off to college. Prices keep going up. Wages, not so much. Still, if you can't buy the 12 pack this weekend, your, daughter has a history book. I could rant, but what good would it do?

My role is life is slowly starting to change. Maybe it is time I start to change to meet it. The kids are growing up. Bubba is almost 14, and #2 is a senior in high school. Time for this mom to get her act together and get back into the workforce. We could use the money. I guess this means that I need to try and remember that long ago work history and fashion up some sort of resume. Dose that mean I have to confront my lack of professional accomplishments? I chose to stay at home with the kids and be poorer but there. Now as I begin my 50th year, I get to start over. Joy.

On a totally unrelated subject: Cheers to the Nineteenth Amendment! 88 years ago today Women were given the right to vote. Only 88 years, we've come a long way, baby! Still further to go...

Sad Day For America

I just turned off the television. I am so disappointed. I was watching C-SPAN, yes, I am a political junkie, and I just watched the Democratic Congress capitulate and give away our civil liberties while protecting corporate America. Yes, they are supporting telecom immunity. Retroactive immunity. Pretty nice for ATT, sucks for the average American. The vote was not 15 minutes old and President Bush was on tv gloating. When America voted for a change in 2006, this is not what we were expecting. More later, but I am so mad I could spit....

Oh, and by the way, Senator Obama, you are the de facto head of the Democratic party, what have you to say?

Can't hear you

Still waiting...

Before You Know It

It was just a few years ago that I dropped her off at kindergarten. Today was the last day of her senior year. Sunday she graduates and in August she is off to college. Where did all the time go? How did I get this old this fast? Where is that inquisitive and clinging child? My daughter is 18, self assured, intelligent, and independent. All things I relish. But just for a second I would like to have the four year old who surrendered so willingly to my hugs and kisses, sitting in my lap.

My kids are laughing

they are laughing at me because I am way too excited about having a blog. I don't expect that anyone will read this but, hey I am out there. I plan on ranting, raving and venting. And responding to any comments (even yours Alexa). So this too excited Mom enters this as her second post.

plasticgoat is on the intertubes.
